Japanese car major Toyota had launched the Etios Liva in India to crack into the popular hatchback market. Based on the Etios sedan, the Liva is definitely a slashed down version of the car, but is a very graceful, spacious and efficient car. Toyota has launched the Etios Cross in India on 7th of May, in a very quite segment. Being totally based on the Liva, it is but natural for people to ask how the Etios Cross is different than the Liva.
Let us consider these two cars to find out:
Toyota Etios Liva hatchback is an attractive and capable car with a long wheelbase of 2460mm, which ensures great spacious interior. This car looks neat and contemporary with patent Toyota style which means no flashy design.
The Liva is endowed with very spacious and comfy interiors with quality materials that speak of its class. It makes for a great comfortable hatchback for 5 large adults, while also offering good boot space.
The Liva is available with 2 petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.2 liter petrol engine generates 80PS of power and peak torque of 104Nm, the 1.5 liter petrol delivers 90Ps power and peak torque of 132Nm, while the D-4D, 1.4 liter turbocharged diesel mill offers 68PS power and peak torque of 170Nm. The Liva Diesel offers a mileage of 23.59 km per liter.
The Toyota Liva has a price range of Rs. 4.71 to 7.05 lakhs.
The just launched Toyota Etios Cross is actually a complete makeover version of the Liva. Toyota wanted to aim this car to the urban, stylish, young and adventurous car buyers and has thus made it very attractive looking. With additional exterior features Toyota has brilliantly transformed the Liva hatchback into the Etios Cross which is neither a crossover nor a complete hatch, and thus can be called a hatchover.
The Etios Cross comes with great aggressive looks and better dirt-kicking abilities. Toyota has shown it can really churn out head turning cars with the Etios Cross, which looks like a powerful pseudo-SUV. Its bold no-nonsense stance has come from new aggressive front full body claddings and sturdier chunky bumpers. The matte black and silver claddings has really transformed the car into a dashing, tough looking vehicle, while the chunky bumpers and large, dual tone, diamond cut 15 inch alloy wheels add to the sporty looks.
The Etios Cross has a similar interior to the Liva, but it has been elegantly redesigned with black theme and stylish dashboard layout. The already spacious and comfortable cabin of the Liva has been made more premium and appealing in the Etios Cross. It also gets great looking seat covers with Etios Cross logos.
Mechanically the Etios Cross is exactly the same as the Liva and is priced between Rs. 5.76 and Rs. 7.45 lakhs.
Thus, though the Etios Cross is essentially the Liva, you get a lot extra in terms look and feel. The Etios Cross is a great looker and is definitely worth a buy.
