The power of lavish sedans Corolla versus Skoda Octavia

There’s lots of excitement in the air with launch of new Toyota Corolla, the Corolla brand is phenomenal, a wonder model in lavish sedan segment. It is a globally acclaimed car; Toyota has made 40 million fortunes with Corolla. The new car is the eleventh generation model; the exteriors are more premium and insides more magical. The new Corolla was launched a day ago, now the hot topic of discussion is the arch rivalry with other sedans of its class. Skoda too has updated its Octavia. Let us compare the two cars and pluck the winner.

Exteriors:

Toyota has created heaps of magic with new Corolla Altis, it is a better looking model than its splendidly looking predecessor. The company has used its break through Furia concept. The front has a professionally sculpted trapezoidal grille with arty swept back Bi-Xenon head lights, and large front airdam. The sides look stunning with 16 inch alloy wheels, the rear looks classy with artistically decorated tail lights, and spoiler.

The exterior frame of new Octavia is simple and elegant; the catchy features are rectangular headlights with robust LED day time running lights, and new inventive grille. The rear section portrays an equally trendy appearance, the tail lights sparkle to the core. The car on the whole looks well dressed and stylish.

The insides of new Corolla are magnificently grand, with refined aluminium finish. The beige and black finish makes the car look vibrant and glossy, the surprise factor lies in seven inch touchscreen, with world class music system with USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Customers can expect to encounter heaps of comfort with reclining back seats, heated front seats, and 60:40 spilt capacity. The car is packed with adequate safety with NR 2 point seatbelt, dual SRS airbags, EBD and ABS.

The insides of Octavia are striking with stunning beige and black décor, the car has a lot to offer on comfort front, with twelve way adjustable seats, air con vents for back passengers, air con with dual zone climatronic technology. Customers can engage in breathtaking luxury moments with 6 inch touchscreen infotainment with Aux-in and USB amenities, for an enriched breezy ride there is a panaromic sunroof. There is lots of interior room, and consumers can be guaranteed of optimum safety with lane assistance, intelligent assistance system, EBD, ABS and nine airbags.

Engine:

Corolla is available in petrol and diesel engines; the 1.4 litre D4D engine churns 205Nm and 87.1bhp. The petrol car gathers its energy from 1.8 litre VVT I engine that produces 173Nm and 138bhp. The two engines are coupled with six speed manual transmission gearbox. There is an extra seven speed automatic transmission gearbox on petrol model.

Octavia comes in an enriched engine package with two petrol power trains, the 1.8 litre TSI engine is super powerful, and it churns enormous energies of 250Nm and 178bhp. The 1.4 litre turbo TSI petrol engine yields 250Nm and 138bhp, and the diesel engine moves on 2 litre capacity with TDI technology that emits 320Nm and 141 bhp. The petrol engine is attached to 6 speed manual and DSG 6 speed automatic gearbox and the diesel car is mated to DSG seven speed transmission system.

The price range of new Corolla Altis is 12 to 16 lakhs, Octavia is pricier, the initial piece is 14.26 lakhs and the most loaded model costs Rs 19.88 lakhs. Corolla is enriched with features, décor, engine power and safety, so is Octavia, Corolla is a worthier purchase for its price.
