Auto manufacturers all over the world are finding useful resources to built eco-friendly cars. Toyota has introduced two stunning hybrid vehicles Camry and Prius, both are beauties inside out, packed with superb style and technology. Although a lot is written about Prius, not many have heard of the different variants. The reason for it is unknown; it could be because the public is not yet familiar with the depths of hybrid vehicles. The number of hybrid vehicles on the roads is not on par with conventional ones.
Hybrid vehicles have not touched the surface of Canadian roads for 15 years, wonder how it will be to drive a hybrid vehicle. A driver from Calgary Mary Caldwell has test driven the Prius V car. It was a lengthy test drive; she drove the car for a week in ideal drive conditions on highway and city. Driving a hybrid car is seriously thrilling; Mary says she treated it like any other vehicle.
The first impression of a Prius car is the wow factor, Caldwell was amazed by the mere look of the car, particularly the V appearance and slender profile. Sitting inside was a breeze there is more than sufficient room to sit comfortably and even stretch. Caldwell is 5’7’’ and she found it easy to get in, her long legs fit well, and the head rest is cozy.
Caldwell liked the look of the interiors, the layering of the seats and plastic fitments on doors and dashboard look aesthetic and the aftermath feel effect is great. Anyone will be a little stressed in the beginning to drive a hybrid car, because of its different nature of technology. With Prius V everything is easy at first hand and Caldwell was familiar with controls in no time. The only concern was the information on the dashboard, and it got her distracted and she could not focus on the road ahead.
Caldwell said that the electric engine was smooth, you could get lost only when you hit the accelerator hard. She said she enjoyed driving Prius V, so different from her initial perception thinking that she could not even get through a signal. The ride encounter was quite pleasant on highways; the only issue was the noise emission from gas power train. The advanced continuously variable transmission was smooth and so were the brakes and handling.
Caldwell has a heck of an experience with Prius V; it could cross any challenging path even rough bumps. She says the car is great for the young demographic. Caldwell was able to handle the car so well that she completed a week’s journey with it.
On the first day she took the car out at 3pm, drove it for 40km, picked up groceries and got home. Caldwell drove the car for 30km on the second day in the city. On the third day she attended a wedding; fourth day did her chores on a rainy day. On the fourth day she attended two events, and her husband was awe-struck by gas mileage. During the fifth day she was scouting for a place to stay, on day six she did groceries and on the last day it was an adventure, she drove with three of her girlfriends and did a 200km round trip.
For those who are fascinated by the high-tech nature of Prius, just buy the car and wander any and everywhere.
