The Chinese Corolla car is not vastly different from the one sold in European and other Asian countries. The variation surprise lies in the insides, layered with a classy all black décor and accentuates the classiness of upholstery and dashboard. There are two petrol engines to choose from, a 1.8 and 1.6 litre power train. The 1.6 litre engine generates 120bhp and has four cylinders; the 1.8 litre engine churns 138bhp. The two mills are coupled with CVT automatic or five speed manual gearbox.

Although Corolla is a global blockbuster product, the earlier car did not do too well in China. The issue was the size not enough for the price, Toyota has sprinkled light on the concern. The new car has greater cabin room and is lengthier than its predecessor. With the bigger size comes superior comfort, it is indeed an improvement and in tune with the aspirations of the modern demographic.

So much was written about the new Corolla before its launch in India, the design is kind of similar to the Chinese car. The insides are beige and black and the engine fitments are 1.4 litre diesel and 1.8 litre petrol unit. The eleventh gen Corolla is a grand surprise because it comes in a better and more premium package. It created waves of excitement chills in India, the demand was overwhelming. In just a month post launch Toyota sold 922 units of the car.

The competition levels in global auto market have become more intense than before. The world is facing the battle of great depression, amidst the harsh macro-economic scenario comes a stunning surprise with more elegant garnish ever. Toyota has sparked threats with its new Corolla Altis; it is a stiff contender for Hyundai Elantra, Chevrolet Cruze and Renault Fluence.

The new Corolla looks so different from the earlier car that sources wondered if it is a Corolla. It is splashed with creases and ridges that accentuate its appealing grandeur. The wheelbase is longer, the sportiness is contributed by raising window line and low bonnet and artistically sculpted C pillar. Apart from the amazing design, the chassis is sturdier. The increase in wheelbase has caused an enhancement of back leg room. The knee room dimension has increased by 92mm.

The layout of dashboard is different; it takes on a neat T shape, the central console looks more attractive as well. The top portion of dash is light black, the instrument panel and blower vents are neatly stuffed into the bulges. The horizontal centre ban on dash is painted with reflective beige. There are sprinkles of chrome to enlighten the royal grandeur. There is a touchscreen music system, reading lamp at the back, illuminated cup holder, reverse camera, brake assist and rain sensing wipers. It will be interesting to observe how the world receives the car.
