Toyota Motor has begun the testing phase of its brand new crossover which is being developed based on the Auris. As per the reports, the Japanese car major is planning to launch this new Auris based crossover sometime in the year 2017. The launch of the all new Toyota SUV will even increase the competition of this highly popular global crossover SUV market.
The Toyota new Auris based 4×4 crossover has been spied recently when the vehicle was busy going about its test round on the roads. The new upcoming Toyota crossover has been spotted testing in Nurburgring in Germany, where all the sporty vehicles from the various auto majors sweat it out before market launch to ensure their great on road or off road performance.
Since the Toyota Auris 4×4 crossover still has a long time before it actually launches in the market, it is still in the early developmental stage. When the vehicle was caught by the spy shutterbugs, it was testing in an early developmental test mule. This new SUV from the house of the Japanese car major Toyota will be aimed at the extremely popular compact crossover market. The new Toyota baby crossover post its market launch will be placed beneath the very successful Toyota RAV4 in the global markets.
The spy shots of this new Toyota Auris based compact crossover has revealed that the vehicle’s design is also Auris based at least for now, as it will be heavily altered as it reaches closer to its final production ready stage. The closer inspection of the vehicle though fully camouflaged has also confirmed that this vehicle has a taller ride height.
The spy photographers who took the pictures of the testing Auris based crossover’s test mule at the Nurburgring, have said that the vehicle is rear axle is driven. However, the spy pictures do not show any rear differential to confirm the photographers’ claim.
Toyota sells an all 4 wheel drive option on the Auris in the Japanese car market. It is believed that Toyota will be offering its upcoming new baby SUV in both two and four wheel drive systems. This will enable Toyota to reach out to more consumers with various price and fuel efficiency requirements.
It still can’t be said whether Toyota would offer the Auris’ smooth Hybrid Synergy Drive gasoline-electric system on this new SUV.
