Toyota stunned the crowd with new Corolla Altis in India, it is a global launch, to fuel the battle even further the company plans to launch Vios sedan. The confirmation was reported by popular news agency Nikkei. It is a big launch to look forward to and may replace the Etios brand that many be discontinued by 2020.
All New Vios
Etios is a popular sedan introduced four years ago, it is a sub compact sedan and the vision was to attract young and skilled working professionals. The car did not do too well and attracted only a section of buyers. It was overpowered by recent launches, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire.
Vios is a luxurious sedan redefined and stellar global vehicle; it will surely stun the Indian crowd to the core. An Indian launch is definite, but Toyota has not yet formatted a strategy with regard to investment and production. The firm produces 50,000 vehicles on a yearly basis. Toyota will terminate the production of Etios by 2020 and it will be replaced by flourishing number of Vios cars.
A statement of Vios launch has not been exposed by Toyota Kirloskar Motor, what is known at the moment is the company’s goal to focus on bigger cars. It is not keen to push mass market vehicles, since the success output from Etios twins comprising of Etios sedan and Etios liva hatch is not too fruitful. Even today there are only a handful of buyers for the two cars.
The new Vios is a bang launch; it is in tune with Toyota’s fantastic luxury statement. The front fascia draws design inspiration from Camry and Corolla, and the engine fitments are pretty robust as well and the options are 1.4 litre diesel and 1.5 litre petrol. The two vehicles will be coupled with five speed manual gearbox.
Toyota has made spectacular profits with Vios in South East Asian segments; it will have elevated levels of lavishness and sit beneath Corolla. The company has been pondering about introducing the car to India for quite a while. Its most spoken about arch rival is the all new Honda City.
A Vios launch is not going to happen anytime soon, the expected arrival period is 2017. Toyota might formulate ways to throw away the Etios sedan by 2017, Etios has not gather sufficient consumer attention, Vios is expected to have a greater shine and will be more dazzling to the eye. The vehicle is covered with Toyota’s all new fashion statement observed on Camry and Corolla.
The thrilling luxury defining features to look forward to are imaginatively styled grille with solid chrome treatment, huge air dam, new nose and creative profile. The artistic LED daytime running lights is positioned below fog lights, the insides too are packed with vibrancy and grandeur in the form of beige and black colour theme, sporty dials arrangement and world class touchscreen. The interiors will have plenty of chrome treatment.
The forthcoming Vios is certainly a huge threat to Honda City; it will nevertheless be a close raging battle. We will have to wait to find out.
