The Japanese auto giant has showcased its advanced automated vehicle technologies at the 4th annual Toyota Advanced Safety Seminar held in Michigan. The displayed technologies included environment-mapping systems from Toyota which can effectively track objects on the road be it day or night, 3D information displays which transforms the abilities to offer road information to the driver, and an advanced driving support system which will be offered to U.S customers in near future. Toyota being a safety specialist also focused more on the safety features of its automated cars and showed how the advanced autonomous vehicles that can safely drive even at high speeds as well as in severe weather conditions.
The Chief Safety Technology Officer Secretary for Toyota Motor Corporation, Seigo Kuzumaki while speaking on the automated technology said that the company has a vision of a world free of traffic fatalities, and these advanced automated vehicle technologies have the potential to revolutionize the future automotive safety. Toyota is committed to offer advanced safety systems to the masses as soon as possible and will also make these technologies accessible to a wide range of drivers as well.
Toyota also unveiled its Automated Highway Driving Assist (AHDA) system in Japan last year, which is designed to work together with the driver behind the steering wheel to drive the car safely. This technology’s latest version has been programmed based on the real life traffic conditions in the US and can operate at the speeds of up to 70mph. The AHDA system combines three core technologies of Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Trace Control and Predictive & Interactive Human Machine Interface.
These three technologies combine together to help the drivers maintain speed limits and drive more comfortably and safely. It also assists the drivers to effortlessly and safely detect an appropriate path within the lane with the help of the signals from a front camera and radar. The technology also offers smooth transitions from automated to manual driving modes.
