Toyota has created a landmark with its Etios Cross, a compact crossover SUV, since inception in 2014 May, it has been a key profit player for the company. It’s got the aggressiveness to succeed, and is as dynamic as Renault Duster, an elegant SUV beauty. Does Etios Cross have the cosmetics to overpower the dominant stature of Duster? Let’s find out.

Exteriors:

Etios Cross is nothing but a sporty aggressive power; it sports a typical country side demeanour, highlighted by the side cladding, muscular grille and nudge guard layered with shiny silver. The arty headlight is surrounded by shiny headlamps. The side view is sporty, and has elegant 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. The back section of the car is as captivating as the front, the classy black design builds the aesthetic value of the car, and so does the illuminating tail light cluster fitted with turn indicators and powerful brake lights.

Interiors:

The interiors of Etios Cross is vastly spacious sufficient to accommodate five occupants, the seats are tailored with first rate fabric and is super comfy, the deep inner sportiness is accentuated by the artistic Etios Cross badging on front seats. The elegant of the cabin is characterized by piano black covering; the steering wheel has sparkling shades of silver and chrome fillings on gear shift knob and air vents. Etios Cross is fitted with a diesel and two petrol engine, the 1.2 litre petrol engine has a displacement power of 1197cc. It has 16 valves and 4 cylinders and pumps out 104Nm and 78.9bhp. The 1.5 litre petrol engine has a displacement capacity of 1496cc and generates 132Nm and 88.76bhp. The two engines are engineered with double overhead camshaft valve configuration equipped with electronic fuel injection system. The 1.4 litre D-4D 1364cc diesel engine has eight valves and four cylinders and yields 170Nm and 67.06bhp and linked to five speed manual transmission gearbox.

Mileage:

The mileage power of the D-4D diesel engine is between 18.04 to 23.59kmpl, the 1.2 litre petrol engine is built with fuel-efficiency power of 12.29 to 17.71kmpl.

The all wheel drive Duster has characteristic marvel visible on dual barrel shaped headlights, which looks sporty. The imaginatively styled radiator grille on the centre has horizontally stacked bars, the side view is manly, and the fashionable rear has dual coloured vibrancy fitted with a couple of radiating reflectors.

Interior:

The inner room of Duster is incredibly vast; the décor is vibrant to the core filled with a royal grey and red theme. The quality of materials is first rate with three pod instrument cluster, best-in-segment upholstery and ample storage amenities such as drink holders, accessory power sockets, dual front sun visors, storage pockets, cabin lamps and huge glove box.

Engine:

The 1.6 litre K4M petrol car is fitted with multi-point fuel injection system and gives out 145Nm and 102.57bhp. The 1.5 litre dCi power train churns 200Nm and 83.8bhp.

Mileage:

The diesel car moves on mileage of 16 to 20.45kmpl and the petrol car provides 13.24kmpl.

Price:

It costs Rs 7.9 to 13.1lakh.
