It is now a well known thing that the much awaited next generation Prius hybrid car has got a last moment design update to please the higher officials of Toyota before the car hits the production. The fourth generation Toyota Prius hybrid has been a highly speculated and extremely anticipated car, but the car’s production has got delayed quite a bit as its new design language could not be decided on time.
The old Toyota head has made it clear that all the new Toyota cars will have to have more engaging and appealing styling, ditching the tale-tale conventional design strategy of Toyota that has started boring the new-age car buyers round the world. And as the Prius is still Toyota’s favorite child as is the most popular hybrid car model in the world, it should be the epitome of Toyota’s new design language.
However, when the hard working designers at Toyota presented the new design for the upcoming fourth-gen Prius, the top officials at Toyota promptly sent them back to the drawing board to create something more stylish and appealing, as they were not happy with what they saw. Working quickly it is now thought that the Toyota designers came up with something that resembles the C-HR crossover concept in April this year. The design of the C-HR crossover concept, better still the meatier design of the Toyota FT-1 concept is just what the auto enthusiasts probably want to see in the new Prius, which currently looks a bit awkward.
Then again it is better to point out at this point of time that the C-HR concept is definitely not an official or precise preview of the next-gen Prius. However, according to some sources, the “diamond architecture” aspects of the concept might make few appearances or inspire the exterior features of the next-gen Prius Hybrid. These include features like the sporty alloy wheel and the aggressively styled front grille which are remarkably striking.
The current Prius is a hugely admirable hybrid car in the world, but the next generation model of the car will surely be way different from it when it comes to design. It is said while the next-gen Prius will improve vastly on fuel efficiency, performance and body rigidity; it will flaunt a completely distinct styling which was never seen before in any Toyota cars. However, all these fuss over the ‘oh so different and head turning design language’ of the new Prius has made it pretty late to hit the production lines. While the car was expected to hit production by this year’s end has been now postponed to the end of 2015.
Moreover, the sources also say that the Japanese car major is likely to offer a massive design difference between the regular Prius hatchback and its plug-in hybrid version, which look very similar in their ongoing models. The new Toyota C-HR concept was showcased at the Paris Motor Show, and it surely looks great enough to inspire the upcoming expected alluring next-gen Prius hybrid.
