In a time when Toyota is being harassed with its great recalls globally as well as in India, the car major also keeps on proving that it still makes some of the best vehicles in the world. Toyota Motor is well-known for its high quality, reliable and safe cars however; the Japanese car giant has been tormented with various issues of late.
Proving its worth once again, the Toyota Innova MPV as scored highest in the 2014 J.D. Power Asia Pacific India Initial Quality Study (IQS) in the Indian MUV and MPV segment. The Innova has topped the IQS results having scored minimum in the problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) study by the organization.
Low score in PP100 points towards the car’s lower rate of problems, and thus higher or better initial quality. Other Toyota vehicles, the Etios Liva hatchback and Etios compact sedan have ranked second and third respectively in the ‘Upper Compact Segment’ and the ‘Entry-level Midsize Segment’ of India.
The J.D. Power Asia Pacific Initial Quality Study is an evaluation that concentrates on the vehicle owners’ faced issues during the initial 2 to 6 months of ownership of a particular vehicle. The study considers an extensive range of more than 200 problems and well as issue symptoms across the various car categories. The study covers a total of 8 vehicle categories which are: engine & transmission; driving experience; vehicle exterior; HVAC; features, vehicle interior; seats; controls and displays; and audio, entertainment and navigation.
Following the results of the J.D. Power Asia Pacific Initial Quality Study, Toyota Kirloskar Motor India’s Director & Sr. Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Mr. N. Raja, expressed his and the company’s delight. He said that the company is extremely pleased at the results, which involves real life customers’ reviews and feedback. He added that the highest ranking in this study is the testimony to the company’s ‘Customer First’ viewpoint as well as its firm commitment towards India.
The Toyota Innova has been a bestselling MPV in India for long now, and is a very highly regarded vehicle in the country. In the recent times, Toyota Kirloskar India is also getting good sales following the general industry growth in the past few months. Toyota India reported that it sold 12,175 vehicles in the domestic market in November, this year as against the sales of 10,208 vehicles in the same month in 2013, accounting to 19 percent sales jump. Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) also posted cumulative sales for the month of November this year at 14,134 vehicles as against the sale of total 12,748 vehicle in the corresponding month last year, accounting to a total sales jump of 11 percent.
