With the fight among the global car makers intensifying to provide fuel efficient and less harmful conventional engines for their cars, Toyota is also constantly improving its petrol and diesel mills. Being the world’s most favoured car maker and the pioneer of green technologies, Toyota is always busy to make the oil burners also more sustainable.
The Japanese car major has recently refreshed the entire range of the popular Yaris, and the company has also announced that its 1.4 litre diesel engine has become more eco-friendly as it now has releases lesser emissions. The Yaris diesel emitting less harmful gases will thus be exempted of road tax in the UK market.
The revamped Toyota Yaris will now be offered in options of 4 new model trim as well, namely; Active, Icon, Icon Plus and Trend. The base trim models of the Active and the Icon will be replacing the ongoing T2 and Tr model trims, while the Trend version will become the new top-end model trim.
Toyota has laden the refreshed Yaris with a lot of added features in order to increase the charm of the vehicle in the global market. Some of the major new features of the Yaris models come in the form of a new audio system with six speakers along with aux-in as well as USB connection, electrical front windows and the massive safety advantage of seven airbags in the Active model trim.
On the other hand, the Icon gets the added feature of newly designed 15 inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth connectivity, climate control, a rear-view camera, while the higher trim Icon Plus also get to have some of the great features including cruise control, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlights and front fog lights.
Of course, the top of the line trim, Trend gets to have all of these awesome features along with some added bells and whistles. These added features come in the form of newly designed 16 inch alloy wheels, snazzy chrome finished exterior features such as OVRMs and side sills and also includes a rear privacy glass.
Toyota has surely done a nice job with the revamping of the Yaris, and yet the company has not priced the new model expensively. In fact, the price range for the new Yaris remains mostly unchanged with a starting price tag of £10,895 for the base model Yaris Active, and £15,495 for the hybrid variant of the Yaris.

Coming back to the lower emission rates of the diesel Yaris that makes the new 2014 model so special, the 1.4 litre D-4D diesel engine of the Yaris has managed to cut down its CO2 emission levels from 104g per kilometre to the current 99g per kilometre, which means that it now falls under the VED band A. Thus, the new Yaris is tax free, while it also offer better mileage of 74.3mpg.
