The next generation Toyota Corolla Altis is all set to be launched by June in India. As per several reports, the Japanese automaker has stopped the production of the present generation Altis and quite understandably, this move has been taken to clear out the remaining stock of the present Altis and to make way for the new Altis after it showcases the new car at the Auto Expo which is scheduled to be held in the coming month in Greater Noida.
Ever since the Corolla was launched in Indian markets, it has remained one of the best selling cars in the Indian market. The entry-level luxury segment in India has not been much of a number churner and thus, the Corolla Altis has done a decent sales figure and has managed a good hundred units every month in India. The Altis from Toyota was successfully registering around 300 to 400 units each month which was quite impressive. Even as the new Octavia and Elantra fight for greater market share, the Japanese carmaker was compelled to launch a redesign Altis so as to up the aspiration value with a futuristic design and exciting features and thus, the new Altis will finally replace the existing model.
One look at the new Toyota Corolla Altis 2014 and you are bound to be awestruck with its spectacular design and appearance. The design is very attractive and not the plain Jane looks and styling which Toyota cars are known for. The new Altis gets huge swept-back headlights that beautifully compliment the arresting chrome grille and the redesigned rear indeed makes this entry level luxury sedan look chic and contemporary.
The new Toyota Altis 2014 will be sold in diesel as well as petrol engine options. The new Altis will come powered by the 1.8 litre dual VVTi petrol oil burner while the diesel version will be powered by a 1.4-litre D4-D diesel oil guzzler that produces a maximum power output of 140 PS and 90 PS respectively. Both the petrol and diesel versions feature six-speed manual transmission gearbox as standard. However, the petrol version will also get 7-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
Besides the manual transmission system, Toyota will also be offering a seven speed CVT automatic as mentioned above. The new 2014 Altis will also feature LED daytime running lights along with a head leveler. There is also a 3.5-inch TFT MID screen that displays complete data that you desire. The car also features auto air-conditioning, 8 way adjustable driver seat, feature packed audio system, rain sensors and a rear view camera.
Toyota has done a commendable job with the car’s interiors as well. The styling package for interiors is simple but certainly not dull or boring. The new Altis’ interiors carry the traditional values of Corolla. The car’s dashboard is minimalistic but is quite stylish and looks chic. Safety features are also abundant which include Anti-Lock Braking System, set of 8 airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control and other advanced safety features.
