Toyota India hopes to regain normal operations after stringent orders proposed by State Government

There was huge commotion in Toyota India, over the past few weeks with outpour of labor strikes. The onset of labor unrest had a toll on production output of the company, which was much below the normal production capacity. Toyota India is now positive about the situation reverting back to normalcy, after the state Government asked the workers to resume work. If the workers do not comply, then the company can employ fresh recruits.

The Government of Karnataka wrote a proposal pleading workers to get back to work and maintain harmony. Toyota issued a statement saying, ‘’issues between management and workers have to be sorted out outside company premises. ‘’

The State Government is firm that the company workers should return to their normal employee state, and a senior state government labor official has issued a prohibitory order statement, which states, that ‘’workers have to commence work, and Toyota Kirloskar Motor can employ fresh talent in place of workers who do not comply to stringent command  of resuming work. ‘’

The labor unrest turmoil started from the 16th of March, the effect was so pungent that Toyota Kirloskar had to shut down its Bidadi manufacturing unit. There was huge chaos in the factory, where some workers mishandled employees in charge of production. The company then put forth the matter to state government, and then agreed to regain normal workings on the 24th of March. The workers did not obey, over negotiations of salary hikes, the workers and management then decided on a salary raise of Rs 3,100 a month. The workers were however not in favor of conduct certificate, and they wanted the management to abolish the agreement which involved suspension of workers. In mid April, workers agreed to sign the good conduct agreement proposal; only on circumstances that suspension ban is not lifted on thirty workers.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor carried out its operations in the midst of turmoil, with a limited plant operation strategy, with the aid of 300 non unionized members. The company managed to roll out 60 to 80 cars a day, which is much lesser than its actual capacity to sell 550 vehicles. Even today workers are on a hunger strike protest spree close to the company’s Bidadi unit, on the outskirts of Bangalore.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor is an eminent subsidiary of the reputed Japanese based Toyota Motor Corp. The company has launched classic pieces like Etios Liva hatchback, Etios sedan and Corolla to name a few. The company has been facing the heat of protests for a while now, that would stretch to a few weeks. The matter is pretty serious to an extent that the State government is concerned about the normal operations of the firm. Amidst the protests Toyota Kirloskar Motor has amazing new cars in store, scheduled to launch soon. The upcoming models are Etios Cross and new Corolla Altis.

Etios Cross is an interesting car to look forward to, and its cross identity is represented by plastic cladding. The new Corolla Altis will come in a better package and will look bigger and more premium than the earlier pieces.
